PHARMACY-Kyle Lynn, the lead pharmacist at Ream's Springville Market, joined the team after years at a corporate store because he wanted to focus on the personal relationships Ream’s Springville Market is known for. While Ream's appreciates the loyalty of local customers, the secret of the market's success is spreading throughout the rest of the valley. In fact, for the past six years, Ream’s has won “Utah Valley’s Best of” in more categories than one.
Not only do customers appreciate the quality of the produce, they have become accustomed to getting an email letting them know when a fresh shipment of strawberries or raspberries has arrived. "We work with our suppliers to get the freshest produce, often picked the day before, and trucked directly to our store," says Brandon Stephenson, produce department manager at Ream's Springville Market. "I love to search the entire world for some of the most exotic and fun fruits and vegetables I can find. I love to have samples and my customers now come in and ask, 'What’s the newest product you’ve got for me to try?'”
You can tell a lot about a grocer by the quality of its meat. A visit to the Ream's butcher block is all it takes to be the hit of the barbecue. “We still grind, cut and wrap our fresh meats daily," says Cory Campbell, manager of the meat department. "We offer a great variety of prime cuts and specialty meats in our new butcher block. I love to have our customers give me ideas on what they need and want.”
GROCERY-more then a can of soup
A great grocery store extends beyond price, availability and even presentation. The heart of what makes a grocery store great is the quality of the employees that interact with customers everyday. This has led the Ream's Springville Market to be voted best grocery store in Utah County. “Our employees and customers are neighbors and friends, where catch-ups and conversations are more important than the shopping list," says Tina Curtis, front end manager at Ream's Springville Market. "Working here reminds me of Cheers, where everyone knows your name.”
BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE
“This is where we shine," says Amy Shelley, HR employee trainer. "Anyone can sell a can of soup, but making each customer have a great experience and making sure all their needs are met, are what we train our employees to do. We know the value of loyal customers. We will find solutions for whatever a customer needs."
Getting that message to the end of the row comes down to education and reinforcing positive behavior. Amy trains employees to remember the following adage: “You are what you repeatedly do, therefore, excellence is not an act but a habit.”
THE ICING ON THE CAKE
Chaz and Carrie Hill have been baking at the Reams Springville Market for over 16 years. Hills Bakery is one of the few scratch bakeries left in Utah Valley. They are known for their home-style bread, donuts and famous fritters. This bakery is a hidden gem if you haven’t tried it.
The in-store deli offers a variety of salads, wraps and more. Ream's is especially known for its homemade chicken pot pies, which are definitely worth the drive. The wood-fired oven pizza is hand-tossed and loaded with favorites, then placed in the cherry-wood-fired oven and cooked to perfection. Keeping it local has always been very important to us!!
